Crimsonland is a product released in 2003 by Reflexive Entertainment. The game for Mac OS is created in the arcade genre and has RPG elements.
The user appears in the game in the guise of a humanoid that destroys all kinds of enemy creatures. The game does not have a plot as such, but several modes are implemented. At first glance, it may seem that they are the same, but in fact they have their own differences. For example, in Quest mode, the main goal is to destroy all the monsters on the map. Rush and Typ'o'Shooter modes involve the destruction of as many enemy creatures as possible. And the Survival mode requires the player to stay alive as long as possible.
At the start of the level, the user finds himself in the middle of the map with an initial weapon (most often it is a pistol, but in some missions the starting weapon may change). A humanoid paratrooper at the beginning of the map has a certain amount of health and zero experience.
From around the corners of the screen, various creatures begin to appear, the description of which can be found in the "Enemies" tab. For killing each of them, experience is given, which can be easily exchanged for various boosters and perks. On the bodies of some monsters, after killing, bonuses or new types of weapons appear. All monsters are divided into several categories of difficulty. Depending on the difficulty of each monster, a different amount of experience is given. You need to be careful and avoid colliding with an enemy creature, because contact with it takes health away. You can monitor your health at the top of the screen. As soon as the health bar stops at zero, the hero dies.
Almost all weapons in Crimsonland have some kind of spread. This means that the larger the diameter of the circle near the cursor, the less accurate the target will be. For many weapons, the next shot increases the spread for a short time.
Perks are a big part of the gameplay. These are kind of boosters that increase the chances of successful completion. Perks allow you to acquire a new ability or improve an existing one. The new perk can be purchased after the accumulation of passing levels and the accumulation of experience. Initially, such boosters are not available to the user, but you can get them by completing Quest mode on normal (or higher) difficulty level. Some bonuses can be improved. For example, the quality of the "Regeneration" booster can be raised to "Improved Regeneration", which will significantly increase the hero's health gain. Crimsonland advise Download to everyone who wants to spend time in a simple interesting game on Mac OS.
