On July 23, 2007, the creators of the Civilization series of games delighted players with the addition of Civilization 4 Warlords for Mac OS. At first glance, the addition does not have many innovations:
- New unique assignments;
- New scenarios;
- 6 civilizations and 10 leaders;
- New features of leaders;
- Ability to create vassal states;
- An additional 3 wonders of the world.
However, it is worth considering everything in more detail, but you should start with a picture. As in the original, the graphics turned out to be three-dimensional, but a new animation appeared. Objects such as cells and fighters have changed their design. The menu bar also changed the look for the better.
The name of the add-on Warlords gives a clue to what awaits us. The commanders will appear in the game - another type of great people. To get the general, the troops need to gain experience. After that, the player will have access to new functions: the construction of a military academy, the appearance of a military specialist in the city and joining the fighter as a commander. All this increases the player’s chances of winning the battles.
New buildings were added to the game: stables and a monument. The first, in turn, adds +2 cavalry experience. Now you can build your civilization according to a new scenario: the Unification of China, the Conquest of Alexander, the Peloponnesian Wars, the Exaltation of Rome, Barbara, Genghis Khan, the Age of the Vikings, the Signs. In the game for the Barbarian, in order to win, you have to rob and kill, honestly you won’t learn to win.
An interesting feature of the add-on, which can be download here, is the improved distinction of civilizations. In addition to adding new races to the game, such as the Carthaginians, Celts, Vikings, Koreans, Turks, Zulus, as well as leaders, with their own characteristics, unique buildings have appeared that replace the usual ones and give their bonuses. Their list is so large that you have to spend more than one day in front of the screen to try them.
Now there is no need to completely capture the state, because after some time of domination it recognizes itself as a vassal state, and you will receive all bonuses, without minuses for the maintenance of cities. After 10 moves, the state can free itself from the conqueror if he does not want to extend the contract, but only by war. The presence of vassal states significantly changes the foreign policy of the game. The addition for Mac OS will allow players who have already completed the main game to diversify the gameplay, and interest in the replay. Choose a civilization, decide on a leader and lead your people to victory.
