Slime Rancher is a project on Mac OS that provides an opportunity to feel like a slime driver (breeder of slug creatures). The project was developed by studio Monomi and released in 2017.

Plot

In the distant future, a major corporation called "7Zee" discovered a new substance that can be used in a wide variety of areas of life - plort. They began to use it for everything: for cooking food, household chemicals and the like. In addition to everyday things, plort is used to create the strongest alloys and the most powerful batteries. This substance is produced by creatures called slimes, which inhabit the area far from Earth - Infinite Outland. The corporation decides to take these "producers" of the plort in order to obtain the necessary resource on Earth. But slimes can only exist in their homeland. In order to produce everything the people need, "7Zee" sends people to the Unlimited Outland and allocates them plots to contain the creatures. The user has to play for one of these sliders.

Game process

The main character is Beatrix LeBeau, a young girl who owns her own plot on the planet of slimes. The protagonist will sometimes contact a distant friend from his home planet, who will talk about the girl's previous life. The heroine is not going to come back, choosing life to death on the Endless Outland.

The player will have to Download the game, and collect slimes of various types, feed them and equip their ranch in every possible way to get more plort. Since the game has an open world, the user is free to explore every corner of the territory, finding food and new creatures to merge and grow on his farm. By feeding your favorite food to slimes, you can get up to 2 plorts in one collection. Plants can be sold for Newbucks - in-game currency needed to upgrade Slime Pens and Farm Buildings. Expanding the ranch and increasing the number of creatures, the amount of the collected substance also increases, giving the player the opportunity to equip his farm as he wants.

There are 4 types of slimes in Slime Rancher for Mac OS: ordinary - some are dangerous because of their characteristics, Largo - slug hybrids, Gordo - giant slimes containing valuable resources, Varrs - hostile creatures that eat other slugs.

There are also only 4 game modes. Standard - an adventure in which there is a plot and freedom of action for the player. Carefree - No enemies spawning mode, as Largos won't turn into Warrs. Five-day trial - you need to earn the largest number of newbucks in 5 in-game days. Steel Rancher is a more challenging adventure mode that adds survival elements to the gameplay. Which mode to choose for the user and how to develop his farm is up to the user, because the ranch can be absolutely anything the owner wants to make it.
