The protagonist of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for Mac OS is Tommy Vercetti, a mafioso who has just been released from prison and immediately starts looking for his place in the Vice City underworld. Players will build their own criminal empire, stealing cars, bankrupting drug dealers, intimidating the least accommodating businessmen and killing many people. The story is surprisingly consistent and in many ways resembles the plot of the movie "Scarface". The voice acting is impeccable - the actors and actresses far exceed the expressive abilities of their digital avatars.

Compared to Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City adds depth to the gameplay, although it is not immediately noticeable. A wider arsenal of weapons and a fleet of cars (including motorcycles and helicopters) is just the tip of the iceberg, covering a remarkably deep system of real estate acquisition and money laundering. After about half of the game, you can start buying and modernizing real estate, which, in turn, begins to bring money over time.

The money can be spent on better condos, as well as advanced gear. Combined with a huge amount of collectibles and side missions, Vice City offers around 30 hours of continuous play time and no less than 70 hours for lovers of every corner.

In technical terms, Vice City is somewhat behind its time. Textures are flat and boring, draw distance is almost zero, and human models look like something from the games of the 90s. This could be forgiven on the PlayStation version due to the sheer volume of the game, but apart from the resolution increase, which can now be changed in the settings menu, there are no significant additions here.

More annoying are some of the game conventions of yesteryear: aiming and jumping mechanics. The fact that a character dies almost instantly in the water in a game almost exclusively composed of islands is just as incredibly surprising. But despite these shortcomings, players still love this part.

The highlight of the game on Mac OS, as always in this series, is the soundtrack. Full voice acting was rare in those days, and professional, attentive attitude to the characters was even less common. If we add all this to the set of radio stations with the correct selection of tracks according to the time period of the game, then the decision to go through the game without good headphones can be considered blasphemous.
