Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is a cult turn-based strategy game with RPG elements for Mac OS. All events take place in the fantasy world of Enrote. After choosing a castle, the hero must equip it, recruit an army, explore the map to extract resources, search for artifacts and find enemies with their castles. The game also has a tactical component: in battles with opponents, which take place step by step, and is calculated on the initiative of the creatures.

The gameplay is canonical for the first two parts, where the hero gathers his army and improves his castle every day. There are eight of them:

• The castle is the closest to reality. Inhabited by people, griffins and angels;
• Stronghold - the focus of harmony and light magic. Inhabited by centaurs, elves, gnomes, unicorns, pegasus, revived trees - dendroids, green dragons;
• Inferno - Hell in all its manifestation. The Inferno army can be replenished with demons, cerberus, efreet, demons and devils;
• The Citadel is a city of barbarians, relying mainly on physical strength and primitive magic. Inhabited by goblins, cyclops, roc birds, monsters, ogres;
• Tower - the city of magicians. Heroes of the Tower are very strong in their magical arts, and their creatures have a great immunity to magic, or they themselves are able to conjure simple spells. Djinn, gargoyles, golems, naga, titans can be summoned to the army;
• Necropolis - the city of the dead, shrouded in a veil of Darkness. After the battle, each necromancer is able to turn all the fallen in battle into skeletons to replenish his army. Also, the heroes are served by zombies, vampires, lychees, knights of darkness and bone dragons;
• Fortress - a city in the swamps, which is very strong in defense. Almost all creatures are capable of poisoning their enemies or turning them to stone. The army of the Fortress is replenished with gnolls, lizards, gorgons, hydras, wyverns;
• Dungeon - the city of warlocks specializing in the magic of destruction. The heroes have tamed troglodytes, harpies, jellyfish, manticores, minotaurs and black dragons with immunity to magic into their army.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 on Mac OS has three modes. The first one is scenario cards, where the player must, by swinging, complete a global mission: defeat all enemies, find the Grail, defeat the monster, capture all the mines. The second mode is campaigns in which scenarios are played out, woven into a specific plot. The third mode is multiplayer, in which scenario maps can be played both locally on one computer and over the network.
