SteamWorld Dig is a Mac OS game with a very straightforward storyline. Due to an unknown combination of circumstances, the Earth began to be populated by only one intelligent life form - robots. And the main character of this platformer is just one of these robots named Rusty.
He comes to the Wild West in Tumbleton to visit his uncle, who is a miner. Here the main character meets the population in the form of three lonely robots. They inform Rusty that his beloved uncle has disappeared in his mine. Entering the cave, almost at the very entrance there is an uncle, or rather a pile of rusty iron parts that was left of him. The cause of death remains unclear. The only thing that is clear is the presence next to the remains of strange footprints leading into the bowels of the mine. Rusty decides to find out what happened to his uncle.
Then the game begins to resemble a mixture of two famous games - Terraria and Minecraft. The reason for this is the constant digging of something. The only difference is that you cannot build here. But in reality, SteamWorld Dig is more like classic adventure games. Armed with the pickaxe of the deceased uncle, you begin to descend deeper and deeper into the mine. But not everything is as simple as it might seem. The old pick will be suitable only for soft rocks, and the rule "never dig for yourself" is quite well-known among gamers, and here it is working. It is also necessary to take into account the presence of the inhabitants of the mine - vile arthropods and troglodytes (people who returned a step back in evolution).
With each passing meter of the mine, the monsters will only become stronger, and the rocks will become harder. And the solution to these problems is the purchase of new tools, for the money from the sale of mined minerals. The prices in SteamWorld Dig on Mac OS are fixed, and you won't be able to cash in on the price difference after a day, as in the similar Animal Crossing. So the gamer has no choice but to dig, fight and dig again. Sometimes you have to crawl out of the mine in order to charge Rusty's flashlight or to change tools. The game also has elements of strategy. The player needs to think over the route, otherwise he will simply not be able to get out of the hole he dug.
The game itself is small, and is suitable to while away a few hours in it. But it will not make the players who decide to Download the game to be disappointed in the fast passage and will please with a slightly unusual ending.
